Q. What is the insulation value of the TRISIP Cat-5™ building assembly ?

A. Our base structure includes nominal 4 inch wall panels rated at R17 and nominal 6 inch roof panels rated at R25.  Other thicknesses of wall and roof panels are available with greater insulating qualities.

Q. How are the TRISIP Cat 5™ wall and roof panels made ?

A.  TRISIP Cat-5™ are part of the family of structural insulated panels manufactured by Eagle Panel Systems.  The components: jumbo OSB panels (8’ x 24’), EPS rigid insulation, dimensional lumber, strapping and drywall are partially joined together with a required amount of fasteners then bonded or laminated together with a structural adhesive in a press.  The end result is an assembly that is stronger than the sum of all the parts individually.  The TRISIP Cat 5™ panels provide superior strength and wind resistance and are an ideal way to build, speeding up the construction process by weeks.

Q.  Are there any issues regarding fire safety with this type of building system ?

A.  Not only does the EPS insulation core include a fire retardant additive but in general fire safety is improved by building with structural insulated panels or SIPs.  Typically structural insulated panel construction is so tight that if a fire were to occur it would be likely to self extinguish due to rapid consumption of oxygen within the structure. The exterior walls are filled with solid rigid foam insulation blocking new fresh air from entering. In addition, drywall is usually applied to the interior wall surfaces and provides enough thermal protection for anyone inside to escape.

Q. How much time is required to ship my new TRISIP Cat-5™ Timber Frame home?

A.  Once you have approved our drawings production begins and in as soon as 3-4 weeks it will arrive at your jobsite.  At busier times of the year lead time can get extended.

Q. What do you mean by complete flexibility of the interior floor plan ?

A. In conventional stick frame construction some interior partitions are required to support the roof system limiting the final floor plan.  The roof system in TRISIP Cat-5™ and Ozark Timber Frame home is completely supported by the exterior walls and the timber frame structure leaving the interior space wide open and giving the builder or homeowner virtually limitless floor plan options.

Q. With no attic area where are the utilities located, the HVAC and water heater.

A. If there is a loft a small room will be built to house these mechanicals.  If there is no loft then a small interior elevated structure is built.

Q. What does the TRISIP Cat-5™ Coastal Building System cost ?

A. New homes that incorporate the TRISIP Cat-5™ system (the exterior walls and roof) should not cost any more than a home built entirely out of dimensional lumber or stick framed.  As a matter of fact, one of our homeowner customers reported that her new TRISIP Cat-5™ Coastal Building System home cost less than what other builders were quoting to stick framed the same home.

Q. What other services do you offer ?

A. A limited amount of design assistance is available at no additional charge or complete design services can be provided for a fee.  If need be we seek assistance from one of our architect partners.
